Canon Pixma MX860 Printer Driver Download – The Canon Pixma MX860 is the only printer in the series that offers wireless while retaining all the features you need for printing, scanning, faxing, and copying. Despite minor faults in output quality, the $199 Pixma MX860 is a worthwhile printer for buyers who need a multifunction printer at a very reasonable cost.
Canon Pixma MX860 Review
The Pixma MX860 retains the same shape as the MX330, measuring 18.1 inches wide by 16.2 inches high and 7.8 inches tall, with a grooved handle on the bottom of the device, making it easy to move around. The curved edges and integrated control panel exude a very sleek and attractive appeal that will work well in the office or at home. A large 2.5-inch LCD screen is mounted inside a neatly organized control panel; the left side houses the power button and shortcuts for copying, faxing, and scanning. The right side contains the usual menus, settings, numeric, and navigation buttons. Canon has also included a few more buttons than the MX330 to justify the $90 price difference,
Canon offers three different options for paper input; the easiest way is through the 150-sheet tray pulled out from under the folding output bin. You can dump another 150 sheets into the rear-loaded cassette, and both trays have small plastic guides to fit a variety of sizes from 4 inches by 6 inches to legal-sized media and No. 10.
The versatility of the dual paper feed allows users to store smaller photo paper in the rear tray and 8-inch by 10-inch plain sheets in the front. The driver also does a good job automatically selecting the suitable tray and writing for a given job. The third and final paper input tray is the automatic document feeder that sits on top of the unit and can hold up to 35 sheets of plain paper for copying or scanning. Like most other elongated trays,
The scanner bay is hidden in the printer’s center, but you can also prop it up to reveal the MX860 five-ink cartridge bay, which includes four dye-based inks and pigment-based inks for black text. We’ve always been big fans of the separate ink cartridge holder because it saves money, and the MX860 is no different. According to Canon’s Website, each color ink tank costs $12.99 for a replacement cartridge, while the pigment-based black tanks cost $14.90 each. Canon estimates a black-and-white document will cost $0.03, a full-color record $0.05, and $0.0529 per 4-by-6-inch color photo; all prices are average for a typical photo printer today.
We’re also pleased that the MX860 includes a dedicated, enclosed media card reader, mainly since we ignored the MX330 for its exclusion. This one is situated on the lower part of the printer to one side of the paper yield plate and has spaces for MS Duo, SD/MS, and Compact Flashcards. When you plug in the card, the MX860 gives both ways of printing content: you can choose numerous pictures utilizing the route sheet to make cluster prints, or you can see, alter, and print individual images directly on the LCD. Manual editing includes red-eye reduction, color effects such as sepia and black-and-white, noise reduction, image optimizer, etc. A PictBridge USB port lets you connect a compatible digital camera directly to the printer.
Canon Pixma MX860 Feature
The Pixma MP860 prints, scans, and duplicates over a USB 2.0 association, yet you can likewise interface it to a wired organization through the Ethernet port on the back or over a wireless organization utilizing Wi-Fi. Like many other wireless printers on the market, the software needs first to establish a USB connection to establish an ad-hoc relationship through the router. The setup assistant in the driver got us printing wirelessly in under 5 minutes, and we were able to connect using both a Mac and a PC.
This printer is equipped with a driver installation CD, but you can download it at the link below for those who don’t have the Canon Pixma MX860 Driver. With a powerful software suite that will appeal to your creative side. This setting lets you switch between commonly used quality templates such as standard, business, paper-saving, and photo printing that automatically adjusts paper size, orientation, and output quality.
Drivers let you dive deeper into photo editing with options for clear, borderless photos, monochrome effects, and even manual color adjustments. At the same time, a pop-up status monitor gives you an initial view of job status, document name, printer status, and an overview. Rough about the current ink level. We prefer the status monitor to the driver that came with the MP860, especially compared to the MP330, which shows no print progress.
The MX860 driver also automatically installs Canon’s Easy Photo Print EX software onto your computer, which showcases all the innovative features of the MX330. It lets you quickly print simple snapshots, create entire art albums, and print calendars with custom images and stickers using Canon’s proprietary sticker paper. The explorer window on the main page functions like the Windows Explorer pane, except we prefer the HP Solution Center layout, which automatically scans and detects printable images on your hard drive.
The copy function on the MX330 is relatively standard for multifunction devices: you can make up to 99 copies and easily adjust the contrast and magnification of documents from 25 percent to 400 percent, all directly through the settings on the LCD menu. The scanner gives you two options for scanning single photos and documents or a stack of papers using the automatic document feeder.
Canon Pixma MX860 Performance
In terms of print speed, the Pixma MX860 outperforms the competition, setting the pace in color graphics speed, single photo speed, grayscale scan, and black text copy speed tests. It even stays ahead of the Pixma MX330 in all benchmarks except for text, where it only prints text at 4.47 pages per minute compared to the MX330’s 5.54ppm, matching the HP OfficeJet J6480 for first place. It shone in the text scan and copy tests, registering an impressive 3.48 pages per minute for copying a 10-page text stack and 4.1 pages per minute for scanning black-and-white graphic pages.
The MX860 is just as competent with graphics quality as its output speed. The text in our sample prints produces deep black with fully formed characters and bold lines, and the color spread also maintains its quality. Our 4-inch-by-6-inch photos are evenly saturated and smooth throughout color transitions, but we have some complaints about printed graphics on plain paper.
Although all the details are pretty sharp and detailed, we did notice some imperfections in the image with the dual-color transitions. The result is a series of smudged white spots scattered throughout the image. This malformation is visible as far as an arm’s length away. While the speckling doesn’t affect Canon’s glossy photo paper images, it may be a problem for offices that print presentations and graphics on plain paper.
